May rosa - dancing in the debris

"Amy Rose Esdale AKA May Rosa is a new Belfast artist dealing in electronic pop tones who was living in London and performing in cabaret and fringe theatre shows last year. After enrolling in a production night class, Esdale moved home to Belfast to pursue the music and write with producer Ryan McGroarty.

Her debut single ‘Dancing In The Debris’ is an assured and sonically-rich debut single. Its euphoric track delves into a sound that encompasses reverb-percussion, synthesizer atmosphere, sharp guitar lines and cello.

The result is a sound that takes an similarly epic feel to the likes of Lyra, Lana and Bush."

Catalan - oka

"A danceable diatribe that throws in a slab of slamming riflfage for good measure, OKA is the first single by CATALAN. Ewen Friers’ lyrics tackle everything from indigenous history to social media fads alongside a groove-ridden bass line and a driving beat. The guitar sounds are shimmering and expansive but at times pointed and crushing. Inspired by Big Country, Why?, Crass, Les Savy Fav and The Knife, with nods towards lyricists such as Regina Spektor and Derek Zanetti, CATALAN creates a ‘Sandinista era’ Clash in the 2017 landscape!"

The Music Ninja

“'The Dark' glows with radiating beauty, led by a luscious bassline, clean guitar riffs, and gorgeous alternating male and female vocals. Most notably, all three voices come together in heavenly harmonies, adding to beautifully constructed crescendos. Impressively enough, this tune is completely self-produced, which should give way to more incredible tunes very soon."

Clash Magazine

"Beauty Sleep sit at the fuzzier end of the dream pop spectrum.
A rising Belfast-based outfit, Beauty Sleep's somnambulist sound has a gorgeous yet lo-fi aesthetic sense.
Sighing harmonies, gorgeous psych-speckled guitar lines, the band have all the ingredients of a cult property.
New single 'Living Right' drops on August 19th, and Clash has the up-front spin. Languid yet sharply defined, the band's undeniable pop elements are matched to something rather more allusive.
Three minutes of sparkling songwriting."

Born Only Yesterday -
The Eyes, The Heart, The Sin

"The drums are huge, the guitars float and sting in equal measure. The vocal delivery never falters. 'Better Left Unsaid' see's B.O.Y's post rock credentials come to the surface, building to a cacophony of sadness most reminiscent of their North Coast origins.

In contrast to the rest of the EP, 'Hawaiian Tribal' is the sound of a band in love with what they're doing. Jovial and fierce, it sounds like four best friends, in a room, not even aware they are being recorded. Effortless and free, 'The Eyes,The Heart, The Sin' is a heartbreaking joy from start to finish."
